Jesse: I kind of see this all love as this, escape for two people who don't know how to be alone. People always talk about how love is this totally unselfish, giving thing, but if you think about it, there's nothing more selfish. ... Celine: I always feel this pressure of being a strong and independent icon of womanhood, and without making it look my whole life is revolving around some guy. But loving someone, and being loved means so much to me. We always make fun of it and stuff. But isn't everything we do in life a way to be loved a little more? |
 |
Jesse: Maybe what I'm saying is, is the world might be evolving the way a person evolves. Right? Like, I mean, me for example. Am I getting worse? Am I improving? I don't know. When I was younger, I was healthier, but I was, uh, whacked with insecurity, you know? Now I'm older and my problems are deeper, but I'm more equipped to handle them. ... Celine: They enjoy the goal but not the process. But the reality of it is that the true work of improving things is in the little achievements of the day. |

Natalia: Like sunlight, sunset, we appear, we disappear. We are so important to some, but we are just passing through. ... Jesse: But i also know that you love me. And i'm okay with you being a complicated human being. I don't want to live a boring life, where two people own each other, where two people are institutionalized in a box that others created because that is a bunch of stifling bullshit. |
Finally done watching the Before trilogy (I really don't know what it's called but I call it the Before trilogy) after all the recommendations/nagging of my friends. Finished it in like 2 nights. Thank God for torrent and loyal seeders!
Anyway, I thought the trilogy was very well written. Given the fact the whole point of the movies is Jesse and Celine and walking and talking all throughout the whole movie. But then it gives the audience the feeling that in reality people don't make grand gestures and just break out with a dance routing or something. In real life people talk and when there's this one person who you can just connect. Just like that. At first I can't imagine how the film will maintain their audience's attention to focus on their dialogues but they did.
But the thing is because of this film many people, or is it just me, will always expect that there is someone who's going to connect with us intellectually. Someone we can talk to until the wee hours in the morning and not just some crazy flirty talk but things about life, philosophy, dreams, soul, and other things. But then again maybe it's just me.
Definitely a two thumbs up! P.S. Ethan Hawke really looks like Louis Tomlinson. Can't help myself to imagine Louis in the films. Sorry I'm not sorry.
